Jason C. Gavejian is a Partner in the Morristown office of Jackson Lewis LLP. Mr. Gavejian represents management exclusively in all aspects of employment litigation, including restrictive covenants, class-actions, harassment, retaliation, discrimination and wage and hour claims. Mr. Gavejian regularly represents employers in federal and state courts and administrative agencies, including the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the New Jersey Division of Civil Rights, and the New Jersey Department of Labor. Additionally, Mr. Gavejian is a member of the firm’s Privacy, Social Media and Information Management (PSMIM) Practice Group, focusing on the matrix of privacy and data security laws affecting the workplace. As part of the PSMIM Group, Mr. Gavejian regularly contributes to the Firm’s Privacy Blog. Additionally, Mr. Gavejian is a Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) with the International Association of Privacy Professionals.
Mr. Gavejian's work in the area of social media, privacy, and information management includes counseling multinational, national and regional companies on the vast array of privacy and security mandates, preventive measures, policies, procedures, and best practices. He has helped companies in all industries to develop and implement social media strategies and policies and has assisted companies in assessing information risk and security as part of implementing comprehensive written information security programs (WISP). Similarly, Mr. Gavejian has assisted companies in not only assessing potential bring your own device (BYOD) programs but also implementing policies to address same. Mr. Gavejian also represents companies with respect to inquiries from the HHS Office of Civil Rights and other agencies regarding alleged wrongful disclosure of protecting information and negotiates business associate agreements and other data privacy and security agreements. Further, his work in the area of workplace privacy also includes helping clients through the process of responding to breaches of personal information.
Mr. Gavejian regularly speaks on current social media, privacy, BYOD, and information security issues and his views on these topics have been discussed in multiple publications, including Inc.com, Risk and Insurance Magazine, and HR.BLR.com.
Mr. Gavejian is a member of the bar in the states of New Jersey and New York. Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Mr. Gavejian served as a judicial law clerk for the Honorable Richard J. Donohue on the Superior Court of New Jersey, Bergen County. Mr. Gavejian received his juris doctor degree from Rutgers School of Law-Newark in June 2004 and conducted his undergraduate studies at The College of New Jersey receiving his degree in 2001. Mr. Gavejian has also received annual recognition as a Rising Star in the Super Lawyers edition of Law & Politics magazine.
