David S. Jones is a Partner resident in the firm’s Memphis office while maintaining a practice in the Las Vegas office of Jackson Lewis LLP. He has practiced law exclusively in the area of immigration and related employment matters for nearly fifteen years. He represents clients in complex matters relating to both immigration benefits and enforcement and in proceedings before the Department of Homeland Security, the Department of Labor, the Department of Justice and the Department of State, as well as in matters related to citizenship status discrimination and export control compliance under the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).
Mr. Jones has extensive experience in assisting companies with hires or transfers of employees from outside of the U.S. in industries such as: Agriculture, Banking and Finance, Chemicals, Construction, Energy, Entertainment, Healthcare, Education, Hospitality, Information Technology, Insurance, Logistics, Manufacturing, Mining, Recycling, Research, Restaurant, Retail and Sports.
Mr. Jones is a regular author and conference speaker and has presented before numerous organizations including Association of Corporate Counsel, Society of Human Resources Managers, NAFSA – Association of International Educators, National Association of Colleges and Employers, American Immigration Lawyers Association, and various Bar Associations. Mr. Jones also frequently participates in outreach programs educating the bar and public about legal issues through pro bono clinics, interviews, and seminars.
Mr. Jones holds a B.A. degree, magna cum laude, from the University of Memphis, and a J.D. from Levin College of Law. He speaks several languages including French, German, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.
Mr. Jones is admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, the federal district court in Tennessee, and the Tennessee Supreme Court. He is a member of the American Bar Association, the American Immigration Lawyers Association, and the National Association of Foreign Student Advisors.
