Jackson Lewis Attorneys Named in 2014 Edition of Who's Who Legal

WHITE PLAINS, NY (October 8, 2014)  Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the largest workplace law firms in the world representing management, is pleased to announce nine of the firm’s attorneys have been recognized in this year’s Who’s Who Legal list in the “Management Labour & Employment” category. Orange County Managing Shareholder Samantha N. Hoffman and Shareholders Richard S. Cohen, Dan G. Hartsfield, Susan K. McKenna, Gary C. Moss, Patrick C. Mullin, David E. Nagle, John L. Sander, and Teresa S. Valderrama have been named to the 2014 edition of Who’s Who Legal, a publication featuring the world’s leading private practice lawyers in a variety of practice areas in over 100 countries.

Richard S. Cohen is a Shareholder in the Phoenix office of Jackson Lewis P.C. For more than 35 years, Mr. Cohen has represented employers in federal and state courts and before administrative law judges on a variety of litigation matters.  He has successfully defended employers in several of the most significant private class actions in the Southwest.  In addition, he has substantial experience defending lawsuits filed by the EEOC and state agencies on behalf of a class.  He also litigates non-compete, non-solicitation and trade secrets misappropriation disputes.  Mr. Cohen also has a substantial mediation and arbitration practice.

Dan G. Hartsfield is a Shareholder in the Dallas office of Jackson Lewis P.C.  For more than 25 years, Mr. Hartsfield has represented employers on a national basis. For the past 12+ years, he chaired the labor and employment practice group at his previous firm.  His practice is exclusively devoted to the representation of management in individual, class and collective actions under SOX, Title VII, ADEA, ADA and FLSA.  He is regularly involved in whistleblower, wage/hour and employment litigation and in union organizational and decertification issues, labor contract negotiations, strike planning, unfair labor practice cases, and labor arbitrations.

Samantha N. Hoffman is the Office Managing Shareholder of the Orange County, California office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice is focused on employment litigation on behalf of management as well as advice and counsel on a wide array of employment law issues.  She has litigated single and multi-plaintiff cases, in both state and federal courts and in arbitration, as well as before state administrative agencies, on virtually all aspects of employment law from wage and hour to harassment, discrimination, disabilities cases, trade secrets, and ERISA.  She also has experience handling class actions on wage and hour issues, with class size ranging from a few hundred employees to in excess of a hundred thousand employees and including both California specific and nationwide class actions.  

Susan K. McKenna is a Shareholder in the Orlando, Florida office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Ms. McKenna's practice encompasses three primary areas of concentration.  (1) Representing employers in federal and state courts and before administrative agencies.  Ms. McKenna’s litigation experience includes Title VII, Age Discrimination in Employment Act, Equal Pay Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Family and Medical Leave Act and Fair Labor Standards Act federal court litigation, in addition to state discrimination, tort and contract suits arising from the employment relationship.  (2) Counseling human resources professionals and in-house counsel on workplace related issues and strategies, including drafting executive employment agreements and personnel policies.  (3) Conducting training on effective supervisory techniques, workplace law developments and staying union-free.

Gary C. Moss is a Shareholder in the Las Vegas, Nevada office of Jackson Lewis P.C.  Mr. Moss has more than 37 years of experience representing management in all areas of labor and employment law, including federal and state court employment discrimination and wrongful discharge litigation, collective bargaining negotiations, arbitrations, union organizing campaigns, cases before federal and state administrative agencies, wage and hour matters, and labor and employment law issues relating to sales, mergers, acquisitions, shutdowns and bankruptcies. Mr. Moss has extensive experience in advising clients regarding strikes and other forms of labor disputes, union organizing attempts, corporate campaigns, and arbitration of disputes arising under collective bargaining agreements.

Patrick C. Mullin is a Shareholder in the San Francisco, California office of Jackson Lewis P.C. He serves as one of the principal trial lawyers for the West Coast offices of Jackson Lewis and brings to the firm significant jury and court trial experience which includes serving as lead trial counsel in over 60 jury and non-jury trials in courts of unlimited jurisdiction. Mr. Mullin concentrates his practice on employment litigation, unfair competition, trade secret litigation and unlawful conversion of intellectual property. Mr. Mullin has presented lectures and continuing education programs in Trial Practice, State and Federal Evidence, Unfair Competition and Trade Secret Litigation, and has qualified and served as an expert witness in professional liability actions involving the standard of care for both litigation and trial practice.

David E. Nagle is a Shareholder in the Richmond office of Jackson Lewis P.C.  He is frequently called upon to counsel and represent employers with respect to a wide range of issues arising in the workplace, including claims based on allegations of employment discrimination, wage payment disputes, wrongful discharge, breach of contract, and various other statutory, contract and tort claims.  Mr. Nagle has considerable experience in trial and appellate courts enforcing arbitration agreements, including his successful argument on behalf of the employer in Circuit City Stores v. Adams, 532 U.S. 105 (2001), in which the Court held that the Federal Arbitration Act requires judicial enforcement of agreements to arbitrate workplace disputes.  His practice also includes traditional labor law matters, where he assists employers with union avoidance, collective bargaining, unfair labor practice charges, and labor disputes.

John L. Sander is a Shareholder in the New York office of Jackson Lewis P.C. and Practice Leader of our International Employment Issues Practice Group.  His practice focuses on cross-border labor and employment matters for our multinational clients. Mr. Sander has substantial experience in international dispute resolution processes and their reform. Additionally, he is President of the Pro Bono Partnership, a nationally-recognized non-profit which provides business legal services and educational resources to community-based and public interest organizations in New Jersey, Connecticut and Westchester County, NY by leveraging pro bono services of volunteer attorneys from corporations and law firms throughout the region.

Teresa S. Valderrama is a Shareholder in the Houston, Texas office of Jackson Lewis P.C.  She is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. Within the Firm, Ms. Valderrama has a general, management-side employment law practice, in addition to a particular focus on wage and hour matters, the FLSA, and corporate investigations: She counsels employers in all aspects of workplace law and represents employers in employment claims, lawsuits and appeals. Moreover, Ms. Valderrama's experience extends into various other civil litigation matters involving workplace law, such as commercial fraud, RICO, and contract claims.
