Jackson Lewis Recognized as a Gold Standard Firm

WHITE PLAINS, NY (June 25, 2015) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce the firm has been certified as a “Gold Standard Firm” by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) for the fourth consecutive year. Law firms must successfully demonstrate that women comprise a significant percentage of the equity partnership, key leadership positions and governance committees in order to be awarded certification.

Jackson Lewis’ Gold Standard designation is just the latest of a number of accolades the firm has received in recognition of its diversity-friendly initiatives, having recently been designated a “Ceiling Smasher” by Law 360 and named to the publication’s lists of “25 Best Law Firms for Female Partners” and “25 Best Law Firms for Black Attorneys.”

“We remain laser-focused on our efforts to recruit, retain and develop talented female attorneys at Jackson Lewis, and it is an honor to again be recognized by WILEF and Law 360 for our successful advancement efforts,” said Firm Chairman Vincent A. Cino. “With assistance from our Diversity Committee, we will continue to provide all attorneys at our firm with mentoring and professional development opportunities to ensure they are well-situated to develop as leaders within our firm and our profession.”

Sharing its clients’ goals of emphasizing integrity and respect for the contribution of every employee, Jackson Lewis has a standing Diversity Committee divided into Attorney Resource Groups to ensure all vital areas are addressed and to provide leadership opportunities for female and minority attorneys. Chaired by Washington, D.C. Region Shareholder Weldon H. Latham, Leader of the firm’s Corporate Diversity Counseling practice group, each Resource Group addresses mentoring, business development opportunities, client service initiatives, pro bono activities and recruiting.

“A culture of inclusion has been a key to our growth and success as a firm, and we are proud to be recognized among these prestigious firms that have successfully integrated female attorneys into top leadership positions,” said Latham. “We are committed to empowering every attorney and staff member to realize his or her professional potential within the firm, and will remain committed as the firm continues to grow.”

The firm’s Women’s Interest Network (WIN) members meet regularly to foster new and sustained programs and initiatives to expand the scope and breadth of opportunities for all Jackson Lewis attorneys, as well to as share successes from around the firm.

“Jackson Lewis has long been at the forefront in fostering the advancement of women in the legal profession, most notably through WIN and our Women’s Employment Law Conference, our annual event designed for female in-house counsel and human resource executives,” said WIN Co-Chair Susan M. Corcoran, Shareholder in the firm’s White Plains, NY office. “We realize the importance of supporting and encouraging the success of women and minorities at our firm, and will continue to foster the skills necessary to create new business and leadership opportunities.”
