Three Jackson Lewis Attorneys Named 2013 'Client Service All-Stars'

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. (February 26, 2013) – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the nation’s largest and fastest-growing law firms, is pleased to announce Partners John M. Bryson II, Richard S. McAtee and Michael J. Soltis have been recognized by the BTI Consulting Group as Client Service All-Stars for 2013.   This designation was bestowed upon individual attorneys identified by corporate counsel for their superior client focus, understanding of business objectives and commitment to client needs. Mr. McAtee was also recognized as a Client Service MVP after being named a BTI Client Service All-Star for the second year in a row.

This information comes on the heels of BTI’s recent announcement that Jackson Lewis was named a Routine Employment Litigation Powerhouse and Complex Employment Litigation Standout in the consulting group’s Litigation Outlook 2013 report.

John M. Bryson II is a Partner in the Washington, D.C. Region office of Jackson Lewis LLP.   He has more than 30 years of experience as a trial lawyer and in the management of complex employment discrimination, diversity, and civil rights investigations and assessments, representing a wide range of clients, from major corporations to federal/state agencies, minority and women-owned businesses, municipalities and trade associations. He has provided training to corporate counsel, managers and HR professionals on compliance with workplace laws and regulations, and is a frequent speaker on workplace diversity.  He has advised Fortune 200 companies confronted with highly-publicized charges of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and related investigations and enforcement actions by federal and state agencies.  

Mr. Bryson’s litigation and counseling experience includes employment, healthcare, commercial disputes, manufacturing, insurance, pharmaceuticals, technology, procurement, telecommunications, nuclear energy, finance, and representation of municipalities on a broad range of federal programs.  He also counsels clients on federal and state civil, judicial and administrative procedure.

 Mr. Bryson is a member of the American Bar Association Litigation and Labor/Employment Sections and the Society for Human Resource Management Diversity Steering Committee.  He is also a member of Virginia’s Medical Malpractice Review Panel.  Mr. Bryson received a B.S. with High Distinction in Nuclear Engineering from the University of Virginia and earned his J.D. from the University Of Virginia School Of Law, where he received a Dillard Fellowship.  He is an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Georgetown University Law Center.

Richard S. McAtee is Managing Partner of the Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina office of Jackson Lewis LLP, and has been with the firm since 1994.  He spends a great deal of his time on employment litigation, including discrimination and non-compete litigation.  He has defended numerous employment discrimination cases, obtaining favorable judgments for employers in virtually every industry.  Mr. McAtee is experienced in evaluating, managing, and defending individual and multiple-plaintiff lawsuits.  He has first-chair experience in discharge arbitration hearings and non-jury proceedings.

Mr. McAtee also has significant labor law experience, including representing employers in negotiations, labor arbitrations and before the National Labor Relations Board.  He also has advised employers with respect to maintaining their union-free status in the face of active union organizing efforts in many states.  Mr. McAtee also conducts wage and hour and human resources audits for employers, and trains in-house counsel, HR professionals and managers to comply with all applicable laws and regulations, avoid workplace disputes, resolve employee relations problems, and satisfy legitimate employee expectations.  His counseling topics include disability management, discrimination, positive employee relations, workplace privacy issues, and many others. 

Mr. McAtee has been recognized as a leading lawyer by Chambers USA, Best Lawyers in America and North Carolina Super Lawyers.  He is an active member of national and state Society for Human Resource Management associations.  Mr. McAtee received his J.D. from Duquesne University and is a graduate of the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University.

Michael J. Soltis is Managing Partner and Litigation Manager of the Stamford, Connecticut office of Jackson Lewis LLP.  He has represented employers in a wide range of employment and labor matters for more than 30 years.  He has advised on and litigated matters involving just about every type of employment claim, including discrimination, family and medical leave, public policy and whistleblower, contract, and common law employment claims.  Mr. Soltis has litigated cases in state court and federal district court and has argued numerous appeals before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit.  In addition, he has extensive experience in all aspects of family and disability leave management, layoff planning and implementation, and workplace wellness initiatives.

Mr. Soltis has represented employers in negotiating more than 100 collective bargaining agreements in a variety of industries and regularly advises employers on labor contract interpretation and administration.  He has also represented employers at dozens of labor arbitrations.  

Mr. Soltis has authored numerous articles on employment and labor law topics for national and state publications and is a frequent speaker on these topics to legal and business audiences.  Mr. Soltis is a member of the Bar of the State of Connecticut and the Bar of the State of New York.  He has been recognized by Connecticut Super Lawyers, New England Super Lawyers, Chambers USA and Best Lawyers in America.  He received his J.D., magna cum laude, from New York Law School and received a Master of Laws degree (LL.M.) in Labor Law from New York University.
