WILEF Awards Jackson Lewis Gold Standard Certification

WHITE PLAINS, NY (July 12, 2016) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce it has again earned a Gold Standard Certification from the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF), a designation awarded to firms who have successfully demonstrated that women represent a meaningful percentage of their equity partners, of their highest leadership positions, of their governance committees and of their most highly compensated partners.

The Gold Standard Certification became more difficult to obtain this year, following WILEF’s decision to tighten the criteria that firms must meet to demonstrate their commitment to promoting and fairly compensating women.  Only 31 firms were certified in 2016.

“We need to keep raising the bar in order to encourage firms to continue making progress,” said Elizabeth “Betiayn” Tursi, WILEF’s Global Chair. “The Gold Standard acknowledges leaders of the profession.”

“We are honored to be recognized by WILEF for the fifth consecutive year,” said Susan M. Corcoran, Principal in Jackson Lewis’ White Plains office and Co-Chair of the firm’s Women’s Interest Network (WIN), a resource group committed to involving Jackson Lewis attorneys in opportunities for business development by and for women.  “Jackson Lewis takes pride in championing diversity and inclusion, and we will continue to strive to create rewarding opportunities for all of our attorneys.”

Jackson Lewis’ Gold Standard designation is just the latest of a number of accolades the firm has received in recognition of its diversity-friendly initiatives, having recently been named 2nd in Law 360’s list of the “Top Biglaw Firm for Female Attorneys” and 18th in the publication’s list of “Best Law Firm for Female Attorneys” by Law 360, in addition to ranking #34th in the Law 360’s list of “The Top 100 Firms for Minority Attorneys.”

“We strive to foster an environment where every lawyer can grow, learn, and succeed, including our female and minority lawyers, and we are particularly proud to receive this recognition from WILEF” said Weldon H. Latham, Chair of the Jackson Lewis Diversity Committee and Practice Leader of the firm’s Corporate Diversity Counseling Group.
