Dan Hartsfield is a Shareholder in the Dallas office of Jackson Lewis P.C. For more than 25 years, Mr. Hartsfield has represented employers on a national basis. For the past 12+ years, he chaired the labor and employment practice group at his previous firm. His practice is exclusively devoted to the representation of management in individual, class and collective actions under SOX, Title VII, ADEA, ADA and FLSA. He is regularly involved in whistleblower, wage/hour and employment litigation and in union organizational and decertification issues, labor contract negotiations, strike planning, unfair labor practice cases, and labor arbitrations. He is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization and is recognized as a Texas “Super Lawyer” and listed as one of the “Best Lawyers in Dallas” in D Magazine. He is listed in the Chambers USA Guide America’s Leading Business Lawyers since 2004 and The Best Lawyers in America since 2005. Mr. Hartsfield received his B.A., with honors, from The University of Texas in 1979 and his J.D. from Southern Methodist University in 1982.
Mr. Hartsfield has a national labor and employment practice that is exclusively devoted to the representation of management. Mr. Hartsfield has focused his practice on advising clients in managing in both a union and union-free environment. He has represented management before the National Labor Relations Board, state and federal agencies and courts, and in arbitration proceedings.
In addition to a full labor agency litigation and labor arbitration caseload, Mr. Hartsfield counsels human resources professionals in the development of state-of -the-art proactive policies, procedures and protocols designed to retain the best talent, exit poor performers, and create an environment that produces highly effective work teams.
Mr. Hartsfield is the author of Federal Contractor Affirmative Action Compliance, featured in Employment Discrimination Law, 3rd Edition, American Bar Association, Section of Labor and Employment Law, 2002. He has presented on labor law subjects, class actions, affirmative action and reductions in force and is a frequent speaker before professional, trade and business associations on several employment law and labor relations topics.
