Sean C. Herring is an Associate in the Chicago office of Jackson Lewis P.C., a national law firm representing management exclusively in workplace law and related litigation. Mr. Herring focuses his practice on employment litigation and counseling matters. He defends employers before federal and state courts and administrative agencies throughout the country.
Mr. Herring has extensive experience as a litigator representing a wide range of clients, from major corporations, national hotel chains, banks, and franchise restaurants to small and local businesses, in employment litigation matters, including claims of race, age, religion, national origin, disability and sex discrimination, sexual harassment, retaliatory discharge, and wage and hour violations. His class action, collective action, and multi-plaintiff experience includes suits by both private parties and by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission in areas of alleged discrimination, harassment, wage and hour violations and hostile work environment claims.
Mr. Herring also routinely advises clients on a variety of employment issues, including drafting employment contracts, employee handbooks and personnel policies, and providing counseling on employee leaves of absence. Additionally, he conducts employee training seminars and harassment investigations.
Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Mr. Herring was a litigation associate at Jenner & Block LLP in Chicago and an extern to the honorable Sidney I. Schenkier, Presiding Magistrate Judge of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
Mr. Herring is a licensed member of the Illinois Bar and admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. He is also a member of the American Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association.
Mr. Herring graduated from the University of Michigan with a B.A. in both Psychology and English in 2001. In 2005, he earned his J.D. from Loyola University Chicago School of Law where he served as managing editor for the Loyola Consumer Law Review. He was a member of the American Bar Association’s National Moot Court Team. He also served as a legal writing tutor for first year law students.
