Avi Meyerstein is a Shareholder in the Washington, D.C. Region office of Jackson Lewis P.C.
Mr. Meyerstein focuses his practice on workplace safety and health matters. He counsels and represents clients on MSHA, OSHA, CSB and other safety agency compliance, investigations, and enforcement actions.
He has participated in the successful defense and settlement of dozens of penalty cases and assisted clients in maintaining cooperative relationships with the agencies even while presenting a vigorous defense. He also represents national trade associations in rulemakings.
When workplace accidents or injuries occur, he and his colleagues provide rapid response legal counsel, coordinating client investigations, interacting with government agencies, and preparing for potential litigation
In the past, Mr. Meyerstein has also represented companies in major antitrust actions in federal district and appellate courts, helping his industrial clients recover overpayments caused by monopolies or price-fixing conspiracies.
Through his pro bono work, Mr. Meyerstein founded and represents the Alliance for Middle East Peace (ALLMEP), a coalition of over 85 non-governmental organizations that build people-to-people cooperation and coexistence in the Middle East.
Mr. Meyerstein received a Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College of Columbia University in 1999 and earned his Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, from Georgetown University Law Center in 2002.
He is a member of the bar in the District of Columbia and Maryland. He is admitted to practice before the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, Fifth and Sixth Circuits and U.S. District Court for the District of Maryland.
