Associate/Of Counsel – Disability, Leave and Health Management Group (White Plains)

The White Plains, NY office of Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the nation’s leading Labor and Employment Law firms, is seeking a highly-qualified Associate to work with the National Coordinator of its expanding Disability, Leave and Health Management Practice Group. Depending on a candidate’s qualifications, the Firm also would consider an Of Counsel relationship.

Not long ago, there were few protections for injured or ill workers. Today, the ADA, FMLA, HIPAA and other federal laws require employers to individually assess every illness, injury, and absence to identify the legal protections and obligations owed to these workers. Employers searching for certainty find few bright line rules. State laws compound this challenge by creating different and potentially broader legal obligations, including an expanded number of paid sick and family leave statutes. But this is just the beginning. Congress recently passed the Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) and later this year, ADA amendments likely will be enacted and the Department of Labor likely will issue new FMLA regulations. Businesses also remain keenly interested in workplace wellness programs, including employer rights to consider smoking or other unhealthy behaviors/lifestyles in employment decision-making.

Our Disability, Leave and Health Management Practice is looking for a skilled attorney who shares our passion and commitment to helping businesses address these and other important employee health related issues and aspires to be an important player in growing this emerging national practice. Candidates must have a minimum of 6 years experience practicing Employment Law and specific experience counseling employers on leave and accommodation issues under the ADA and FMLA. Additionally, candidates should have strong research and writing skills, outstanding academic credentials and an academic record demonstrating a strong commitment to Employment Law. We offer the depth and breadth of a national practice in a small office setting.

Jackson Lewis is one of the most preeminent labor and employment law firms in the United States with nearly 500 attorneys in 37 offices across the country. A career with Jackson Lewis offers an excellent opportunity to develop strong skills in a specialized practice and growth with a national law firm.

If you are interested in this unique employment opportunity, please contact us. All inquiries must include a cover letter state detailing prior counseling and litigation experience. Preference will be given to those applicants who can exhibit demonstrated interest or experience in counseling and litigation on disability, leave and health management matters.
