Please join Jackson Lewis and Industrial UI Services for a joint two-hour program followed by cocktails.

Our program will include:

New York State Unemployment Insurance Law Explained

Do you understand the Unemployment Insurance law? Do you understand how your UI tax rate is calculated, or the difference between being an experience rated or benefit reimbursed employer? Many HR professionals find that Unemployment Insurance (UI) laws and processes are frustrating at best and need the tools to protest unnecessary charges as their employers consistently look for cost cutting measures. UI tax is controllable with proper management and an understanding of the “rules of the game.” During this session, attendees will discuss the UI laws (who is and who isn’t entitled to benefits), how the benefit and tax rates are calculated, how to know if your organization should pay tax or reimburse the state dollar for dollar, and the mechanisms for properly protesting claims.

Labor and Employment Law Explained through Pop Culture

We often do not realize it, but labor and employment law principles lurk in our favorite movies, television, and music. During this session, labor and employment law lessons and recent federal, New York State, and New York City legal trends will be illustrated through popular culture. In this interactive format, attendees will discuss the links between the workplace and, among others, Billy Joel, the Beatles, Saved By The Bell and Curb Your Enthusiasm.
