Stay alert with quarterly workplace law updates presented by Jackson Lewis’ Seattle attorneys.
The U.S. Supreme Court recently issued a much anticipated decision about a pregnant employee’s challenge, under the federal Pregnancy Discrimination Act, to her employer’s workplace accommodation policies and practices. This one-hour seminar will examine this recent Supreme Court opinion and its impact on Washington employers. We will compare this ruling with Washington State case law involving pregnancy discrimination, which can set a higher bar. We also will revisit longstanding provisions allowing pregnancy or childbirth related leaves, including the FMLA and Washington's additional leave for pregnancy or childbirth related disabilities, to examine their interrelationship with the most recent court rulings. We will exchange ideas with attendees about proactive compliance strategies and best practices for minimizing claims relating to a worker's pregnancy.
