Employers of every size and in every industry face employment law challenges. These issues present risks and often divert management’s attention from other important business matters. In these interactive sessions, participants will learn about the latest legal developments from seasoned labor and employment lawyers, and explore ways they may avoid liability by developing preventive strategies.

The Department of Labor administers and investigates employee complaints received under 22 federal whistleblower laws.  These whistleblower laws prohibit employers from discriminating or retaliating against their employees for exercising their rights under the law and they can have an impact on nearly every industry.

Under these whistleblower laws, the DOL will investigate all employee complaints regarding worker safety and health, environmental and nuclear safety, transportation safety, and consumer and investor protection.  The DOL received and investigated over 3,000 whistleblower complaints in 2013 alone and the numbers are expected to increase in the years to come.

Learn how your business may be affected by one of these laws, what types of complaints may be protected, how to handle an employee who raises a complaint, and how to effectively respond to an investigation by the DOL to increase your chances of a favorable outcome.
