Jackson Lewis Adds Two in Memphis

MEMPHIS, TN (April 20, 2015) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Craig A. Cowart and Sally F. Barron have joined the firm’s Memphis office as Shareholder and Of Counsel, respectively. Both attorneys join Jackson Lewis from Fisher & Phillips LLP, together adding decades of experience representing employers in all aspects of labor and employment-related litigation, arbitrations and administrative proceedings.

Mr. Cowart, who is AV-Rated by Martindale-Hubbell, has significant experience representing employers in Title VII, ADA, ADEA, FMLA and FLSA matters and has successfully obtained decertification in a number of FLSA collective actions. He also devotes a substantial portion of his practice to counseling employers on workplace issues, including decisions related to counseling, disciplining and terminating employees. Mr. Cowart spent a portion of his career serving as in-house counsel for an international specialty chemicals company, where he managed all employment-related litigation and legal matters related to human resources.

Mr. Cowart is active in the Federal Bar Association, where he serves as Chair of its National Labor and Employment Law section. He is also a past President of the Memphis Mid-South Chapter of the FBA.

Mr. Cowart is admitted to practice in Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi and Tennessee. He received his B.B.A. from the University of Mississippi and his J.D., with honors, from the University of Memphis.

Ms. Barron practices in all areas of employment law, representing employers in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies. She is experienced in handling claims brought before the EEOC and lawsuits arising under the ADA, the ADEA, the FLSA, Title VII and the Tennessee Human Rights Act. 

Ms. Barron regularly advises clients with regard to a variety of employment matters, including employee handbooks and policies, severance agreements and other employee contracts. 

Ms. Barron is admitted to practice in Mississippi and Tennessee. She received her B.A. from the University of Richmond and her J.D. from the University of Memphis School of Law.
