Alison B. Crane is a principal in the Chicago, Illinois, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. With an exclusive focus on representing management in workplace law and related litigation, Alison defends employers before federal and state courts, and administrative agencies, throughout the Midwest.

Alison’s practice covers the spectrum of employment litigation, including federal and state claims, and individual and class action lawsuits. She has handled cases involving claims of race, age, disability, and sex discrimination, as well as breach of contract, sexual harassment, retaliatory discharge, and wage-hour claims.

In addition to her litigation practice, Alison regularly represents employers in responding to administrative charges before federal, state, and local agencies, such as the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the U.S. Department of Labor, and the Illinois Department of Labor. She counsels employers regarding various employment law issues, including wage-hour compliance, and negotiates and prepares employment and separation agreements. In addition, Alison reviews and revises employee handbooks and works with employers to update their personnel policies. She assists employers in a wide variety of industries, with particular experience in the health care, gaming and hospitality, and financial services fields.

Alison is committed to educating the legal and human resources communities on key issues and trends in employment law. To that end, she frequently publishes and speaks on an assortment of topics.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Alison was co-chair of the Employment Litigation & Counseling practice group of a Chicago-based litigation firm. In this position, Alison tried multiple cases to verdict and represented clients in complex state and federal court matters involving allegations of civil rights violations, medical negligence, product liability claims, commercial disputes, and general tort liability.

While attending law school, she was an editor of the Valparaiso University Law Review. Alison was also a teaching assistant in the Department of Legal Writing and Appellate Advocacy, was a recipient of the Valparaiso University Public Service Scholarship, and was awarded a Commendation for her commitment to pro-bono legal service.
