Biography

Andrew A. Peterson is a Principal in the White Plains, New York, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Mr. Peterson joined the firm as a summer associate in 1979, and was one of the first six attorneys to staff the White Plains office when it opened in 1981.

Mr. Peterson specializes in traditional labor law, as very broadly defined. He regularly acts as management’s chief spokesperson in a wide range of challenging bargaining scenarios (both public and private sectors), and advises employers concerning the contract administration issues that flow from his role at the table. From the National Labor Relations Board and various State agencies to the highest Federal and State Courts, Mr. Peterson handles all litigation that arises from the employer/union relationship in virtually every manner of judicial, administrative and/or contractual forum.

Mr. Peterson has written several articles for legal/scholarly journals, including The Labor Law Journal, the Industrial and Labor Relations Review, the Employee Relations Law Journal, and Pace Law Review, and regularly speaks before management groups on a variety of labor and employment law subjects.

While attending law school, he was a member of the Law Review. He was a charter member of New York University School of Law’s Center for Labor and Employment Law.

A longtime basketball player, fan and coach, Mr. Peterson co-founded the New Rochelle Basketball Association (recipient of a Heisman Trophy Fund Grant for linking sports to academics), and the Tri-County Basketball League, with more than 100 teams in NY’s Westchester, Putnam and Dutchess Counties.  He also enjoys guitar, boxing, yoga, and surf fishing.
