Barry Alan Johnsrud

Barry Johnsrud, a principal in our Seattle, Washington office, represents employers in every kind of employment dispute and litigation.

Barry's representation of employers has involved the full range of disputes, from demands to jury trials, and has covered nearly every substantive area of employment law. Barry's recent successes include a successful trial, a non-confidential, walk-away settlement where our client leveraged viable counterclaims crafted by Barry against dubious claims for interference with employment, a variety of summary judgments, and an injunction requiring the return of company confidential information.

His team recently prevailed in a hotly-contested motion battle resulting in a two-plaintiff lawsuit being ordered to two separate arbitrations, per our client’s arbitration agreements. He led a team that obtained the dismissal of an FLSA collective action for plaintiff’s failure to observe procedural requirements of the FLSA. Barry has obtained sanctions of over $17,000 against a plaintiff for refusing to proceed to trial on the date set by the court. The Court of Appeals affirmed that order. He has tried several cases since joining Jackson Lewis over twenty years ago, and previously at his first law firm.

While attending law school, Barry received three American Jurisprudence awards, including Civil Procedure and Contracts.
