Caitlin S. Schroeder

Biography

Caitlin S. Schroeder is an associate in the Indianapolis, Indiana, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing management in employment litigation and providing preventive advice and counsel on employment issues.

Caitlin’s experience includes defending employers before the EEOC against charges of race, age, national origin, gender, pregnancy, disability, and religious discrimination, as well as sexual harassment and unlawful retaliation claims. If litigation follows the resolution of a charge at the agency, Caitlin provides full-service litigation defense to employers.

Caitlin understands business does not stop while an EEOC Charge or lawsuit is pending, and her practice includes proactive counseling to employers regarding proper management of current employees throughout a charge or lawsuit. Caitlin uses her understanding of the law and foresight into the litigation process to identify areas of risk and provide timely recommendations to employers to help mitigate that risk.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Caitlin gained legal experience working on all types of employment matters as a federal law clerk for the Honorable William T. Lawrence in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. Following her clerkship, she gained extensive litigation experience as an associate in the litigation department of a national, general practice firm. Caitlin’s exposure to wide-ranging legal topics – from public finance and personal injury to trade secrets, First Amendment law, and construction defects – enables her to quickly learn and adapt to her client’s business needs.

While in law school, Caitlin served as editor-in-chief of the Indiana Journal of Global Legal Studies, where she managed the publication of the largest volume in journal history. She also served as a teaching assistant for the Office of Graduate Legal Studies, where she taught legal writing courses and tutored international law students from China, Saudi Arabia, and Myanmar.

Caitlin’s experience also includes counseling attorneys in the areas of ethics and professional responsibility. From 2015 to 2020, she co-authored a monthly ethics column, the “Ethics Curbstone,” in the Indiana State Bar Association magazine, Res Gestae. She continues her ethics work as a resource for her clients and colleagues.

In her free time, Caitlin supports Project Home Indy, a local organization that provides a long-term residential environment and life skills counseling to homeless teenage girls who are pregnant or parenting. Caitlin previously served on the Board of Directors for Project Home Indy from 2016 to 2019.
