Biography

Cheyna Galloway is an associate in the Indianapolis, Indiana, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing management in employment litigation and providing preventative advice and counsel on employment issues.

Cheyna realizes that in today’s global environment, managing the shifting legal landscape created by COVID-19 while continuing to address the day-to-day needs of her clients is critical to maintaining productive and competitive workforces. As a member of the Jackson Lewis COVID-19 response team, Cheyna is constantly analyzing the ever-changing legal terrain and streamlining information for client use. With a solid understanding of the issues and trends, Cheyna provides swift action for clients by creating and revising COVID-19 compliant policies, providing timely recommendations to mitigate risk, and advising clients on accommodation issues.

Cheyna also works with clients to address their day-to-day legal needs, and believes an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. She strives to become an extension of her client’s team by working diligently to keep her clients out of court and leveraging her understanding of the law to provide preventative advice and counsel on various workplace matters.

Cheyna understands that despite best efforts, litigation still arises, and when it does she stands ready to provide full-service litigation defense to her clients. Cheyna prefers a proactive approach to litigation, previewing what comes next and preparing her clients to stay one step ahead. Cheyna’s litigation experience includes defending employers against charges of discrimination based on race, age, national origin, gender, pregnancy, disability, and religion, as well as sexual harassment, blacklisting, and unlawful retaliation claims.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis as an associate, Cheyna clerked with the firm for all three years of her law school career.

During law school, Cheyna sharpened her litigation and legal writing skills by serving as managing editor of the Indiana Law Journal (2021), winning the Championship title in the Alternative Dispute Resolution competition (2020), placing quarterfinalist in the Sherman Minton Moot Court Competition (2019, also earning Brief Honors and Oralist Honors), and placing semifinalist in the Transactional Drafting Competition (2019). She also fulfilled several leadership positions, serving on the Graduate and Professional Student Government, acting as vice-president for the legal honors fraternity Phi Alpha Delta, and serving on the Dean’s Advisory Council.

Prior to law school, Cheyna spent 5 years working for Walmart in various positions, ending as an assistant manager for one of the highest grossing stores in Tennessee. She then spent 5 years working in social work positions with Youth Villages and the Department of Child Services.

Outside of work Cheyna likes to pretend she’s the next HGTV home renovation star, regularly featuring her husband and two children as they tackle remodel projects. She also enjoys going camping with the family and seeing live concerts.
