Lynn C. Outwater


Lynn C. Outwater is a Principal in the Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. She was also a founding partner of the firm's Pittsburgh, Cleveland and Cincinnati offices.

Ms. Outwater served on the national SHRM HR Certification Institute Board of Directors and the national SHRM Foundation Board of Directors as Treasurer and was a member of the Executive Committee. She is a member of the Pittsburgh Human Resources Association Advisory Board. She is also the past chair of the national Employee and Labor Relations Committee of the Society for Human Resource Management (“SHRM”). Ms. Outwater was elected and served on the 2005 and 2006 Membership Advisory Council (MAC) to the SHRM Board representing the Northeast Region which includes Maryland, Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont. For over a decade, she served as a faculty member for SHRM’s HR Generalist and Advanced Generalist Certificate Programs. Ms. Outwater served on the National Board of the SHRM Consultant’s Forum (2002-2003). She was the elected Director for SHRM’s Pennsylvania State Council for 2004 and 2005. Ms. Outwater has received professional accreditation in the human resources field by achieving the SPHR designation.

Ms. Outwater frequently lectures on labor and employment law topics before Jackson Lewis clients and national and regional employer associations. Ms. Outwater is a nationally sought after workplace law analyst as evidenced by her appearance on the PBS television program, “On the Issues,” a series that explored issues confronting American business today. Ms. Outwater has testified before the House Committee on Education and the Workforce representing both the Society for Human Resource Management and the FMLA Technical Corrections Coalition, a 160-member American business coalition.
