Biography

Melissa K. Taft is an Associate in the Indianapolis, Indiana, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice is focused on representing management in employment litigation and providing advice and counsel on employment issues.  Ms. Taft’s litigation experience includes all types of employment litigation, including defending claims of race, age, national origin, gender, disability and religious discrimination, as well as sexual harassment and unlawful retaliation claims.  Ms. Taft’s practice is also focused on defending wage and hour claims, including class and collective actions brought under both the Fair Labor Standards Act and state wage laws.  Ms. Taft has experience defending employment claims brought in federal and state courts and before the Equal Employment and Opportunity Commission and state agencies.

While attending law school, she was a Managing Editor for the Indiana Law Journal. After law school, she clerked for the Honorable Larry S. Merck, U.S. Department of Labor, Office of Administrative Law Judges.
