Guidance on Connecticut Paid Sick Leave Law Now Available

The Connecticut Department of Labor has issued guidance on the new Connecticut Paid Sick Leave Law.  The law goes into effect on January 1, 2012.  The guidance is available from the Department’s website, at  (See our article, What Employers Need to Know about Connecticut’s Paid Sick Leave Law, for more information on the new law.)
The guidance clarifies the Connecticut Department of Labor’s interpretation of certain provisions, and, the Department notes, is subject to ongoing changes as interpretation issues arise.  While not legally binding, the guidance should be useful to employers grappling with compliance.

The law provides that covered employers with “service workers,” as defined by the law, must provide their service workers notice of the law’s requirements and protections.  To comply with the notice requirement, employers can display a poster issued by the Department.  The poster is available from the Department’s website, at  The Department expects to release a Spanish version at a later time.
