Former US Labor Dept. Attorney Joins Jackson Lewis LLP in Miami

MIAMI, FL (March 19, 2010) – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest growing workplace law firms, has announced that Pedro P. Forment has joined the firm as a Partner in its Miami office. Most recently a partner at Ford & Harrison for over ten years, Forment is a former attorney with the U.S. Department of Labor where he represented the government in OSHA, wage and hour and other federal statutes.  The announcement of his hire follows the office’s recent additions of Jenna Rinehart Rassif and Natalie E. Norfus in January, Dominique T. March in November and Devand (Dave) A. Sukhdeo and TerRance Q. Woodard in the fall. 

Mr. Forment has devoted his practice to the representation of management in all aspects of employment law, including providing employment advice and defense of litigation, representing employers before governmental agencies and contract administration to employers in their relationships with unions. Mr. Forment is also nationally recognized for representing employers on workplace environment, safety and health issues, and has been involved in many high profile OSHA cases.  Mr. Forment is a regular speaker on employment topics; he is also routinely quoted in - and contributes to - employment law publications.

Mr. Forment is AV-rated by Martindale-Hubbell and is consistently named in The Best Lawyers in America® legal guide.  In addition, Florida Monthly magazine has cited him as one of the state’s “Best Lawyers.”

Mr. Forment is actively involved with the community and is a Member of the Partners Board of the Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.  He also serves as an Advisory Member of the Miami Dade Public Schools Business Technology Education Advisory Committee, the Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Advisory Committee and the Future Business Leaders of America Public School Districts 23/24 Leadership Conference.  Additionally, he serves as a mentor to students in the South Florida Minority Law Student Mentoring Program.

In addition to his community involvement, Mr. Forment is a member of the Cuban American Bar Association, the American Bar Association (Labor & Employment Section), the Dade County Bar, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Academy of Florida Management Attorneys, and the National Safety Council.

A native of Miami, Mr. Forment graduated with a B.A. from Wesleyan University in Connecticut where he studied in history and literature, as well as attending the Universidad de Santiago de Compostela in Spain, and Wroxton College in England.   He received his law degree from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and is admitted to the District of Columbia, Florida, Massachusetts and Pennsylvania Bars.
