Jackson Lewis Raises $185,000 to Support Leukemia & Lymphoma Society

WHITE PLAINS, NY (September 17, 2014) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the largest workplace law firms in the world representing management, is pleased to announce the firm has raised $185,000 to help The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) in its  mission to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families.

“We have supported The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society since 2010 when attorneys throughout our offices began providing pro bono legal services to the organization.  Since then, our firm’s commitment to LLS and its invaluable work has continued to grow,” said Vincent A. Cino, Firm Chairman. “I am incredibly proud of our attorneys and staff, whose generosity led us to become the largest law firm donor in LLS’s history. We could not be more pleased to contribute in such a significant way to LLS’s efforts to help blood cancer patients  live longer, better lives.”

In January 2014, Jackson Lewis announced a firm-wide fundraising contest in which the organization’s geographic regions would compete to raise the most money for LLS before the firm’s June retreat in San Diego. At the end of the June retreat, attendees joined together in a replication of LLS’s “Light The Night” Walk, which brings together families and communities to honor blood cancer survivors, as well as those lost to the diseases, and to shine a light on the importance of finding cures and providing access to treatments for blood cancer patients.

This initiative was spearheaded by Scott A. Carroll, Managing Shareholder of the firm’s Cincinnati and Dayton offices and past Chair of the National LLS Board, who is a blood cancer survivor.

“Having a personal experience with blood cancer has deepened my own connection and commitment to LLS, an important and effective organization. As past Chair of the National LLS Board, I have seen first-hand the impact this global health agency is having today in changing the blood cancer landscape,” Carroll said.

“We are grateful to Jackson Lewis for its generous contributions to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society,” said Louis J. DeGennaro, Ph.D., LLS President & CEO. “The support of Jackson Lewis helps LLS fund research to advance more breakthrough therapies for blood cancer patients that are saving lives not someday, today. This work is crucial as there are no means for screening or prevention for most blood cancers, so we must focus on investing in cures.”
