Alex Hunstein is an associate in the St. Louis, Missouri, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace and labor law matters, including preventive advice and counseling, labor relations, negotiations, and arbitrations.

Alex is a skilled litigator who can quickly assess risk and advocate for employers in all stages of litigation. Her experience representing many different types of clients gives her the ability to offer pragmatic advice and preventative solutions in difficult situations. Having worked in-house managing labor relations litigation and counseling employees, Alex is deeply familiar with the challenges that employers face on a daily basis.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Alex found her passion for labor and employment while working in-house for a large public school system in Chicago on the labor relations team. She represented the district in unfair labor practice claims, grievance arbitrations, and employee termination cases. She also oversaw the issuance of grievance decisions, effectuated employee terminations, and attended strategic bargaining sessions with the unions. Before that, Alex spent many years litigating throughout the Midwest on behalf of a large national insurance company and individual plaintiffs. She has litigated cases from receipt of a demand letter to arguing the case on appeal. Alex began her legal career as an Equal Justice Works fellow at a legal aid in Chicago where she provided representation to incarcerated young mothers and began a domestic violence resentencing project based on changes to Illinois criminal resentencing law.

While attending law school Alex was the editor in chief of the Children’s Legal Rights Journal. She was also an oralist on the National Moot Court Team and in the National Moot Court Competition in Child Welfare and Adoption Law, where she was named first place oralist.
