Jackson Lewis Earns Top Score on Corporate Equality Index for LGBTQ+ Workplace Inclusion Efforts

NEW YORK, NY (December 8, 2023) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce that it has received a score of 100 on the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s 2023-2024 Corporate Equality Index (CEI), the nation’s foremost benchmarking survey and report measuring corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ+ workplace equality. The firm received the “Equality 100 Award” for meeting all criteria, and will be recognized as a leader in LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion.

“We believe in equality and respect for all, and take pride in being recognized for our diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts,” said Firm Chair Kevin Lauri. “Jackson Lewis continues to take actionable steps to promote LGBTQ+-friendly workplace policies and also help advance LGBTQ+ inclusion firmwide. The firm will continue to evolve and refine our policies as needed, to maintain a welcoming and inclusive community where individual differences are embraced, supported and valued.”

The results of this year’s CEI showcase how U.S.-based companies are promoting LGBTQ+-friendly workplace policies both domestically and internationally. The CEI ratings are determined by an organization’s performance and involvement in areas: Non-discrimination policies across business entities; Equitable benefits for LGBTQ+ workers and their families; Supporting an inclusive culture; and Corporate social responsibility.

Established in 2002, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation’s CEI tool has become a driving force behind monitoring the implementation and success of inclusion strategies and protections for over 20 million US and 18 million global LGBTQ+ employees. The Human Rights Campaign Foundation regularly revises the CEI scoring criteria to ensure the evaluation reflects current practices. This approach urges companies not employing contemporary practices to implement them for the benefit of LGBTQ+ employees.

“We are very proud to be recognized as an Equality 100 Award recipient,” said Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer and Principal Kimya S.P. Johnson. “At Jackson Lewis, we remain committed to ensuring greater equity in our systems, policies and processes, as well as facilitating an inclusive work environment firmwide, and to demonstrating that we value our LGBTQ+ colleagues, among others. Receiving the Equality 100 Award affirms our continuous work in the firm and the legal industry.”
