Jackson Lewis Joins Allegheny County Bar Association's ALLY Initiative Cohort

PITTSBURGH, PA (March 15, 2022) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C., is pleased to announce the firm’s participation in the Allegheny County Bar Association’s (ACBA) ALLY Initiative Cohort, a new initiative aimed at championing equality, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and beyond. This year’s ALLY Initiative program launches on March 15 at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center and concludes in November 2022.

“The ALLY Initiative and certification program is the first of its kind in the country and we are thrilled to be a member of its inaugural cohort,” said Pittsburgh Office Managing Principal Marla N. Presley. “Jackson Lewis strives to be at the forefront of diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) efforts not only in Pittsburgh but also across our offices nationwide, and we are deeply committed to making an impact in the true allyship space.”

ALLY stands for “Attorneys, Learning as allies, Living as allies, and Yielding results.” Its mission is to engage attorneys and their law firms, corporate legal departments, courts and other legal organizations to commit to increasing inclusivity, create equitable workplaces, empower historically marginalized and underrepresented members of the bar, and reflect the community through active participation in various key programs and projects targeted to achieve those objectives.

As a member of the first ALLY cohort, Jackson Lewis will actively participate in various key programs and projects targeted to achieve the program objectives and choose activities or “goals” from a criteria list designed to increase exposure to diverse groups. As a cohort member, Jackson Lewis is required to participate in a prescribed number of activities and achieve specific goals to graduate from the ALLY Initiative in November.

“Through our participation in the ALLY Initiative, the firm—and the Pittsburgh office specifically—will continue to learn, grow, and evolve in the DEI sphere, said Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer and Principal Kimya S.P. Johnson. “We will be able to expand our local network of inclusion-oriented firms and organizations so that together we can continue to advance DEI efforts collectively within the legal community.”

At Jackson Lewis, we believe an inclusive culture makes us a stronger, better firm. We share our clients’ goals to emphasize diversity, inclusion, integrity and respect for the contribution of every employee. We understand the importance of having a workforce that reflects the various communities in which we work. We strive to create an environment where diverse attorneys want to work and can flourish.
