Of the myriad labor and employment law risks faced by your organization, wage and hour collective action claims often present the most clear and present dangers. Even the smallest of errors, when committed over time, and by multiple employees, can create the potential for large-scale liability.
During this program, we will discuss the 10 most common wage and hour "traps" that employers need to be aware of and guard against, including:
- Failing to properly compensate employees for off-the-clock work, on-call time and travel time
- Improper calculation of overtime
- Legal issues associated with implementing time recording practices such as rounding work start and stop times, preventing early start times and automatic deductions for meal breaks
- Potential issues associated with the implementation of new, biometric time recording technologies such as fingerprint imaging
