Brett G. McAteer

Brett G. McAteer is an associate in the Albuquerque, New Mexico, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Brett brings more than 20 years of progressive experience in Human Resources and Employee Relations across public-sector and not-for-profit organizations, with a concentrated background in healthcare HR. 

He holds a Bachelor of Arts in Social Work from Baylor University, and a Master of Business Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources Management from the University of Dallas. Brett later expanded his practice into the legal field, earning his Juris Doctor from UNT Dallas College of Law.

Brett’s career at the intersection of HR and employment law has equipped him with a comprehensive understanding of workplace dynamics, risk mitigation, and regulatory compliance. Brett is particularly passionate about fostering legally sound, ethical, and transparent organizational practices that strengthen culture and reduce exposure to employment-related claims. 

He believes strongly that positive employee relations—and defensible employment practices—begin with leadership. When senior leaders model integrity, accountability, and clear expectations, these standards cascade throughout the organization.
