Alessia Montemurri is an associate in the Detroit, Michigan, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Her practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, with particular experience defending against discrimination and retaliation claims.

Born and raised in Windsor, Ontario, Alessia has maintained a longstanding interest in labor and employment law and the issues employers navigate in today’s workplace. While earning her J.D. at the University of Detroit Mercy School of Law, Alessia served as the Executive Managing Editor of the Detroit Mercy Law Review, where she oversaw publication operations and supported the editorial team. During this time, she authored a comprehensive note examining child labor laws and advocating for stronger protections for minors whose online presence generates income on social media platforms.

Alessia also served as a teaching assistant for both Legal Writing and Analysis and Torts, where she developed strong communication, analytical, and practical problem‑solving skills that now inform her approach to advising employers.

At the conclusion of law school, Alessia was inducted into the Justice Frank Murphy Honor Society for graduating in the top ten percent of her class and for her meaningful contributions to the law review.

Before joining Jackson Lewis, Alessia worked at a boutique firm handling labor and employment matters, where she assisted in defending employers in state courts and administrative proceedings. Her experience includes supporting clients through various stages of litigation and advising on strategies to address and prevent workplace disputes.

With an undergraduate background in Biological Sciences, Alessia approaches legal issues with an analytical mindset and a grounding in research-based problem solving. She partners with employers to understand the practical realities of their workplaces and provides guidance aimed at supporting their operational goals while minimizing legal risk.

Outside the office, Alessia enjoys walking her dog, exploring new cities, and attending concerts.
