Jacqueline (Jackie) Brown is an associate in the Chicago, Illinois, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. With a focus on employment litigation and internal investigations, Jackie collaborates with HR and leadership teams to offer clear, actionable guidance for minimizing risk and effectuating viable resolutions to legal issues.

Jackie’s litigation experience includes defending against claims of sexual and racial harassment; discrimination based on disability, age, religion, and other protected characteristics; and alleged violations of the ADEA, FMLA, FLSA, Title VII in court, agency tribunals and the Illinois Department of Human Rights. Jackie approaches representing employers during the investigation process as an opportunity to enhance workplace culture and prevent future issues rather than solely manage the imminent risk of workplace disruption. As a result, her investigations practice involves handling sensitive reviews involving workplace misconduct, harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and other compliance issues.

In addition to her litigation and investigations work, Jackie provides practical counsel to proactively address common workplace compliance and wage and hour issues. Jackie advises on accommodations and leaves under the ADA, FMLA, and PWFA, drafts and reviews employment and separation agreements, and develops workplace policies that are both legally compliant and aligned with business needs. Jackie also supports employers through organizational changes, including employee transitions, internal restructurings, and compliance considerations such as WARN Act obligations.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Jackie served as a Legal Fellow in the Office of Counsel at Duke University and Duke University Health System, where she advised institutional clients on labor and employment law, student affairs, internal investigations and regulatory compliance. Jackie leverages the insights gained during this experience to develop solutions to the unique challenges facing colleges and universities, as well as the intersection of their business operations and the laws affecting them as employers and institutions of higher learning.

While attending law school, Jackie was a member of the ABA Client Counseling Team and contributed to the Journal of Regulatory Compliance. She also served as a student clinician at the Civitas Child Law Clinic—advocating on behalf of minors in child welfare proceedings in the Cook County Juvenile Court and in high-conflict domestic relations proceedings in the Circuit Court of Cook County Domestic Relations Division.
