Maikieta Brantley
Maikieta Brantley is an associate in the Austin, Texas, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. where she advises employers on a broad range of workplace and employment matters. Her practice includes employment litigation, workplace investigations, Title IX appeals, discovery strategy, motion practice, and day to day counseling on employment related issues affecting businesses and management teams. She works with clients across industries and approaches each matter with a practical, detail oriented, and client focused mindset.
Before returning to private practice, Mai served as a Clinical Assistant Professor of Law at the University of Houston Law Center, where she taught legal research and writing and business organizations. In that role, she trained law students in objective and persuasive legal writing, oral advocacy, statutory interpretation, contract analysis, and litigation strategy. Her academic experience continues to shape her approach to advocacy, writing, and client service, and strengthens her understanding of the education sector and the unique workplace considerations facing academic institutions.
Prior to her teaching role, Mai practiced labor and employment law in private practice, where she handled a variety of employment related disputes and advised clients through multiple stages of litigation. Her experience includes drafting pleadings, motions, mediation statements, discovery responses, and settlement agreements, as well as preparing legal analyses and case evaluations. She values clear communication, responsiveness, and strategic problem solving in every client engagement.
Mai’s strong oral advocacy skills were also recognized during law school, where she won numerous advocacy competitions and was named Top 1L Oral Advocate.
In addition to her practice experience, Mai has contributed to professional development initiatives focused on legal education, attorney mentorship, and emerging issues affecting the legal profession. She has participated in committees and conferences dedicated to advancing legal writing education and improving practical training for future attorneys. Her combined background in litigation and legal education allows her to approach matters with both analytical precision and a strong understanding of effective communication.
Mai believes strong advocacy begins with understanding each client’s business goals, workplace culture, and operational realities. She values collaborative relationships with clients and works to provide guidance that is both legally sound and practical for implementation. Her background in legal writing and litigation also allows her to translate complex legal concepts into clear, actionable advice for employers navigating sensitive workplace matters. Whether counseling clients on preventative practices or assisting with active disputes, she focuses on delivering thoughtful representation tailored to each client’s needs.
