Michael J. Breaker

Michael J. Breaker is an associate in the Denver, Colorado, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Michael’s practice focuses on representing employers in workplace law matters, including litigation and preventive advice and counseling. 

Michael’s employment litigation practice includes defending employers in a broad variety of matters, including wage and hour class actions, discrimination, harassment, wrongful termination, and systemic discrimination claims, and working with employers to defend investigations from the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment (CDLE), the Colorado Civil Rights Division (CCRD), and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC). 

In addition, he regularly counsels clients regarding employment matters, such as investigations, termination and disciplinary actions, and policy development. He also conducts training on prevention of harassment and discrimination in the workplace, and compliance with wage and leave laws.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Michael’s practice focused on complex employment, commercial, and civil litigation disputes, as well as criminal law. Michael has experience and success at all points of the litigation lifecycle, including mediations, discovery motions, depositions, arbitrations and trials. Previously, Michael also served as an Assistant Public Defender in Chicago, Illinois where he first-chaired over 70 trials — courtroom experience that sharpened the tenacity and trial-readiness he brings to every employer he represents today.
