It’s August, which usually means back to school shopping and stretching out the long summer days. In 2020, employers, and the parents they employ, find themselves scrambling as the new school year approaches—but for entirely different reasons—the potential of facing an entire year of online learning.

The State of California recently issued guidance for schools to reopen for in-person instruction, but several large districts have announced they will start the school year with remote learning. Topics

  • Paid leave requirements for employees caring for minor children
  • Recommendations for handling employees who continue to work remotely
  • Other ways to support employees, including unpaid leaves of absence or flexible scheduling options
