Craig Schloss to Lead Jackson Lewis in San Diego

SAN DIEGO, CA (October 8, 2012) – Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest-growing workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Craig Schloss, who began his legal career as an Associate at the firm, has rejoined the firm as the San Diego office Managing Partner.  Mr. Schloss succeeds Paul Sorrentino, who has served as the interim Managing Partner and the office Litigation Manager since January 2008.  Mr. Sorrentino will remain the office’s Litigation Manager and continue his active practice representing employers in all aspects of employment disputes.

Prior to joining Jackson Lewis, Mr. Schloss led the Employment and Labor Group at Morrison & Foerster’s San Diego office, and served as the managing partner of that office during its early stages of rapid growth.  Specializing in employment and trade secret litigation, he has extensive experience litigating wrongful termination cases, employee unfair competition/trade secrets disputes, wage and hour class actions, and discrimination and sexual harassment lawsuits.  He also practices before the National Labor Relations Board regarding union representation matters on behalf of management.

“To attract someone of Craig’s ability, experience and reputation from a firm such as Morrison & Foerster speaks volumes about Jackson Lewis’ presence in today’s marketplace,” said Patrick L. Vaccaro, Firm-wide Managing Partner.  “We are thrilled to welcome Craig back to Jackson Lewis. He is a seasoned litigator with an impressive background and strong litigation, employment and labor law experience. We expect a seamless transition from Paul to Craig and are looking forward to great things from Craig and our wonderful legal staff in San Diego.”

“I applaud Paul for his tireless efforts in helping to establish Jackson Lewis as a go-to firm in San Diego,” Vaccaro added, “and I look forward to seeing Craig build upon the foundation Paul has laid.  Craig’s connections to the local business community and his reputation as one of the very best employment lawyers in San Diego will help us quickly expand our footprint throughout the Southern California region. ”

Mr. Schloss has been recognized as a leading attorney in employment and labor law by Best Lawyers in America® (2012 – 2013), named a top labor and employment attorney in the San Diego Daily Transcript, and is consistently selected for inclusion in Southern California Super Lawyers.

“I have remained familiar with Jackson Lewis throughout the years as a best in class national labor and employment law boutique,” said Mr. Schloss. “The firm’s ability to provide cost-effective services, combined with its extensive geographic reach and the unparalleled expertise of my new Partners, give me a great platform in which to grow my practice.   I am proud to rejoin the firm and lead the San Diego office in its future growth, and thank Paul for the work he has done to get us where we are today.”

Mr. Schloss is on the Board of Directors for the San Diego Symphony and a former Chair of the Board. He is the immediate past President of the San Diego Chapter of the Labor and Employment Relations Association (LERA).  He also is a member of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center Board of Directors, Executive Committee, and Chair of the Personnel Committee.

Mr. Schloss graduated from the University of Arizona in 1977 with a degree in economics and received his J.D. from the University of Illinois in 1980, where he participated in a joint degree program with the University’s Institute of Labor and Industrial Relations.
