Guillermo A. Escobedo and Arcelia N. Magaña Honored by San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association

SAN DIEGO, CA (November 5, 2019) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce attorneys Guillermo A. Escobedo and Arcelia N. Magaña have recently been honored by the San Diego La Raza Lawyers Association (SDLRLA) at its Scholarship Fund Annual Dinner and Gala. Mr. Escobedo was presented with the “Attorney of the Year Award” and Ms. Magaña was presented with the “President’s Award,” as the outstanding Board Member of the year. The SDLRLA Scholarship Fund Annual Dinner and Gala drew hundreds of esteemed judges, attorneys, elected city, state and federal officials, and community leaders to honor awardees and celebrate the legal community.

“Guillermo and Arcelia are talented attorneys with deep commitments to promoting diversity and inclusion in the San Diego community and within the firm,” said David G. Hoiles, Jr., San Diego Office Managing Principal. “Both have integrity and fine leadership skills, and we are proud to see them honored for their work towards equality in the legal profession.”

Mr. Escobedo is a Principal and Office Litigation Manager of the San Diego office. Mr. Escobedo’s practice focuses on training, counseling, and defending companies in workplace-related legal matters. His advice-and-counsel practices include harassment prevention and anti-bullying training, effective management tools, reviewing and revising employee handbooks and other company policies, and conducting workplace investigations.

Mr. Escobedo has been an active member of the SDLRLA for more than 10 years, serving as the immediate past Vice President and as a Board Member since 2016. Mr. Escobedo earned his J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law and his B.A. from the University of California, San Diego. 

Ms. Magaña is an Associate in the San Diego office, where her practice focuses on representing and counseling employers in workplace law matters. She advises clients on ongoing labor and employment policy developments and prepares clients for compliance efforts. Ms. Magaña has focused almost exclusively in labor and employment law during her legal career. She has extensive experience in representing and advising clients in various labor and employment matters, including those relating to harassment, discrimination, retaliation and wage and hour.

Ms. Magaña is an active member of the SDLRLA and has served as a Board Member since 2018. Ms. Magaña earned her J.D. from the California Western School of Law and her B.S from the University of California, Berkeley.

The mission of SDLRLA is to advance the cause of equality, empowerment and justice for Latino/a/x attorneys and the Latino/a/x community in San Diego County through service and advocacy. The organization’s attorneys dedicate themselves to promoting diversity on both the bench and bar. In addition, SDLRLA supports law students with mentorship programs and scholarships.
