Jackson Lewis Ranked in Chambers Latin America 2024

SAN JUAN, PR (August 25, 2023) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce that its San Juan office and attorneys Juan Felipe Santos and Sara E. Colón-Acevedo have received band rankings in the Chambers Latin America Legal Guide 2024

“It’s an honor to be recognized for our work in Puerto Rico by one of the industry’s most commissioned legal guides,” said Firm Chair Kevin Lauri. “Since joining the firm in 2013, Juan and Sara have established reputations as some of the most trusted and reliable employment attorneys in the region. This achievement speaks to the quality of legal solutions they provide that makes Jackson Lewis stand apart from other firms.”

Chambers Latin America recognizes attorneys who have completed superior work in key jurisdictions. The recipients are decided by an evaluation of research completed for the publication of the 2024 Latin America Chambers Guide. Attorneys are then ranked based on industry knowledge, counsel and client services.

Juan serves as both the managing principal and litigation manager of the firm’s San Juan office. He has successfully represented employers in litigation before federal and Puerto Rico courts, including jury trials. Juan represents clients through all phases and types of federal and local labor and employment lawsuits and administrative matters, ranging from individual charges and cases to broad-scale collective and class actions regarding wage and hour disputes, employment discrimination and harassment, retaliation, wrongful discharge, statutory leaves of absence, welfare benefits (ERISA), Railway Labor Act, defamation, non-compete covenants and other employment-related torts.

Juan provides legal advice to management on human resources compliance issues and policy matters spanning the entire employment life cycle, from the hiring, discipline and termination of employees, including drafting of employment manuals and policies and the development of strategies for effective liability mitigation. Juan also has experience providing legal advice to companies establishing operations in Puerto Rico and conducting due diligence employment law audits.

Juan earned his B.S. from Cornell University and his J.D. from the University of Puerto Rico Law School.
