IRVINE, CA (November 29, 2023) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Peter J. Woo has been appointed as Litigation Committee co-chair of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association (NAPABA). Peter, who has been involved with the Association for seven years, concludes his term in October 2029.

“On behalf of the entire firm, I congratulate Peter on his recent appointment,” said Orange County Office Managing Principal Alison L. Lynch. “Peter is an excellent, strategic litigator who demonstrates strong leadership skills and professionalism, making him well-suited for this role. We are extremely proud to work with Peter and we are confident that his insight will unify and advance the NAPABA’s mission.”

Peter is the litigation manager of Jackson Lewis’ Riverside, California, office and a principal in the firm’s Orange County, California office. He advises corporations, not-for profit companies, and private entities who benefit from his experience gained working in-house, in litigation and at trial. He defends clients facing claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, contractual disputes and fraud, as well as professional liability claims such as directors and officers (D&O) insurance. Additionally, Peter defends clients against claims made under the Americans with Disabilities Act and equivalent state-based claims involving public accommodations. He also defends clients against wage and hour claims on an individual, class, and/or representative basis.

In his legal career, Peter successfully worked as a judicial law clerk for the New York State Supreme Court in Bronx County and in-house at several insurance companies in New York City. He handled complex coverage issues, managed litigation and supervised outside counsel on thousands of complex EPL, D&O, and E&O professional liability matters. These varied experiences enable Peter to look at issues holistically from a judicial, in-house and litigation point of view, helping him to better serve his clients.

Peter also advises clients on issues such as risk management, hiring and termination, workplace investigations, and drafting employee policies, and when faced with litigation, Peter helps his clients each step of the way. He facilitates sexual harassment training and develops materials for executives, managers, and employees under current California and federal law with emphasis on practical solutions.

NAPABA’s Litigation Committee is composed of civil litigators sharing a common interest in trial advocacy before state and federal courts. It serves as a forum for discussion, networking, support and exchange of ideas leading to the improvement of individual trial and other advocacy skills. The Litigation Committee holds regular quarterly conference calls to present guest speakers, legal updates and discussion topics relating to the courts, substantive law, current and proposed legislation, local rules, federal rules, and other issues related to litigation, to its members.

Peter is very active in the Asian American legal and business communities nationally and in Southern California. Peter is founder, chairperson and president of the Asian American Insurance Network, a 501(c)(6) non-profit organization dedicated to amplifying the voices of Asian Pacific Islander professionals in the insurance and risk management industries. Peter is also an active board member of the Orange County Korean Bar Association working to promote deeper connections between the legal system and the Korean American community.

“I’m honored and grateful to be able to serve as co-chair of the NAPABA Litigation Committee,” said Peter. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Litigation Committee and throughout NAPABA to further its mission of promoting justice, equity and opportunity for Asian Pacific Americans, in addition to promoting trial and other advocacy skills for NAPABA attorneys across the nation.”
