Sarah R. Skubas Named to Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity's Board of Directors

HARTFORD, CT (April 18, 2024) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce that Principal Sarah R. Skubas has been appointed to the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity’s (LCD) Board of Directors. The LCD was formed to increase the representation of lawyers of color by uniting the resources and commitment of the region's leading corporations, public sector entities, law firms, law schools and state bar associations.

“Sarah has a demonstrable commitment to and passion for advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in our profession that helps fuel her work. Further, her diverse legal experience and solution-oriented mindset enable her to thoughtfully contribute to discussions addressing systemic barriers for people of color in the legal industry,” said Hartford Office Managing Principal James F. Shea.

Sarah is co-leader of the firm’s Healthcare group as well as its Practicing and Parenting attorney resource group. She is an experienced litigator in all aspects of employment law, including internal investigations, labor-management relations and employment litigation advocacy. The diversity of her practice yields a unique perspective, allowing her to tackle client issues such as preventative counseling, unionized workforces, leave and disability law issues, discrimination, internal investigations and marijuana in the workplace.

Sarah is a passionate advocate for her clients. Her objectives in every interaction are to listen, understand their business and legal goals and achieve them either through proactive early resolution or adept management of litigation to trial. Sarah’s dedication allows her to not only foster long-lasting client relationships but also guarantees that her carefully developed strategies are aligned with their organizational objectives.

“I have long admired the work of the LCD, and I am humbled to have been allowed to join the board of an organization that means so much to this community,” said Sarah. “The demand for legal services continues to evolve and expand across various domains. To meet the changing needs of society, we must ensure that we champion equal opportunity for all individuals to pursue careers in law.”

The LCD's mission is to increase the representation of lawyers of color in the state of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts and to enhance the recruitment, retention and promotion of future lawyers from diverse backgrounds by creating environments that are authentically inclusive.

Sarah earned her J.D. from the New England School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Puget Sound.
