Jackson Lewis Boosts Richmond Presence with Addition of Courtney Malveaux

RICHMOND, VA (September 29, 2016) Jackson Lewis P.C., one of the country’s preeminent workplace law firms, is pleased to announce Courtney M. Malveaux has joined the firm’s Richmond office as a Principal.  Mr. Malveaux, who was previously a Director at Thompson McMullan, represents employers in a variety of labor and employment matters, including occupational safety and health and government relations.

“Courtney has earned a strong reputation among the local business community as a first-rate attorney who is committed to client service,” said Kevin D. Holden, Richmond Office Managing Principal.  “We are very pleased to expand the Richmond office’s existing capabilities and confident that his experience will be an immediate asset to our clients both in Virginia and nationwide.”

Previously, Mr. Malveaux served as Virginia’s Labor Commissioner, where he directed state enforcement of the Occupational Safety and Health Act, Payment of Wage and Minimum Wage law and a variety of state and federal labor laws.  As a Past President of the National Association of Government Labor Officials, Mr. Malveaux lectures nationally on a variety of subjects, including occupational safety and health enforcement, employee misclassification and temporary employees.

Mr. Malveaux, who has listed been among Virginia Business Magazine’s “Legal Elite” in the legislative/regulatory/administrative category, is a former Assistant Attorney General and a former Deputy Counsel to the Attorney General of Virginia.  As a former Associate Solicitor General, he has assisted in developing appellate arguments and briefs before a variety of state and federal appellate courts up to the Supreme Court of the United States.

Mr. Malveaux received his B.A. from Pennsylvania State University, his M.A. from George Washington University and his J.D. from William and Mary School of Law, where he was a recipient of the Distinguished Alumni, Marshall-Wythe, Gambrell Professionalism and George Wythe Awards.
