James F. Shea Named “Champion of Youth” Honoree by Our Piece of the Pie

HARTFORD, CT (November 28, 2022) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Principal and Hartford Office Litigation Manager James F. Shea has been named a “Champion of Youth” honoree by Our Piece of the Pie (OPP). The honorees were selected based on their dedication and support of OPP’s mission to create opportunities of growth for disadvantaged communities in Connecticut. Jim was recognized during the organization’s annual Champions of Youth event on November 3 at the Bond Ballroom in Hartford.

Jim’s commitment to OPP has spanned more than 20 years and we applaud him for his dedication to serving his community.”

Jim concentrates his practice on employment litigation and preventive counseling. He represents employers in a variety of forums, including state and federal courts, the state and federal departments of labor, the Connecticut Commission on Human Rights and Opportunities and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. Jim frequently advises employers on a wide range of employment-related issues including reductions-in-force, non-compete agreements and personnel policies. He also frequently speaks on and conducts management training on a variety of topics including harassment prevention, leave and disability law, workplace privacy, and personnel management skills.

Jim has dedicated more than 20 years of service to OPP and served on its Board of Directors for 10 years. During his service as a board member, he provided legal support on the governance and fundraising committees. Jim donates pro bono legal services to the organization and has advised on risk management issues.

“Working with OPP has allowed me to directly contribute to the organization’s mission, which is focused on enhancing the lives of young people in the Greater Hartford community,” said Jim. “For 40 years, OPP continues to evolve its service delivery model to address the barriers and obstacles our youth are facing.
