Valerie E. Taylor is an associate in the Baltimore, Maryland, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. She represents employers in sensitive employment and workplace law matters, including preventative advice and counseling and wage and hour compliance matters in an array of industries such as government, public sector, and nonprofit organizations; education; healthcare; hospitality; transportation; and telecommunications. Valerie’s litigation experience includes defending employers in legal actions involving issues regarding employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour, leave law and policies and breach of contract.

She represents employers in state and federal court, including the 4th Circuit Appellate Courts, arbitrations, and before administrative agencies such as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Maryland Commission on Civil Rights, Baltimore Community Relations Commission, Pennsylvania Human Relations Commission and the Delaware Department of Labor.

Before Jackson Lewis, Valerie gained experience at Pessin Katz Law, P.A. in the General Litigation practice group. While there, she primarily handled commercial litigation. She represented Amtrak in Federal condemnation actions involving Amtrak’s exercise of eminent domain of properties in Baltimore, Washington, D.C. and along the Northeast Corridor, and she also represented insurance carriers by advising as to coverage and compliance with first- and third-party claims regarding general liability coverage and commercial and business insurance issues; also served as defense counsel for carriers in state and federal litigation.

While in law school, Valerie was an editor for the Journal of Land and Development and was involved with the Women’s Bar Association. Valerie has had clerkships with the Honorable Dennis M. Robinson, Jr., The Circuit Court for Baltimore County, Maryland, and Feldman Law, LLC. She has held internships and externships with the Honorable Mickey J. Norman, The Circuit Court for Baltimore County, Maryland; the Honorable Alexander Wright, Jr., The Maryland Court of Special Appeals; the Honorable Hope Tipton, The Circuit Court for Baltimore City, Maryland; and the Baltimore County Circuit Court Office of Foreclosures.
