RESTON, VA (August 7, 2025) — Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Dedra S. Curteman has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C. Region office. Dedra joins the firm from the United States Attorney’s Office for the District of Columbia, where she served as an Assistant U.S. Attorney. She previously worked at the U.S. Department of Justice and has extensive litigation experience, having handled more than 100 cases in federal administrative, district and appellate courts.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Dedra to the Jackson Lewis team,” says Washington, D.C. Region Office Managing Principal Michael H. Neifach. “Dedra’s ability to blend trial readiness with proactive compliance counseling reflects the forward-thinking approach we champion at the firm, and her extensive experience in federal jury trials, employment law and government contractor compliance, especially in matters involving the False Claims Act, adds tremendous value to our team.”
With experience arguing across various courts and serving as both first and second chair in federal jury and bench trials, Dedra brings a wealth of litigation expertise to resolving workplace conflicts. Notably, she served as first chair in a Title VII case involving multiple discrimination claims, achieving a complete jury verdict win in under two hours, and as senior counsel and second chair in another Title VII case, securing a full defense verdict after just one hour of deliberation. Her courtroom success also includes obtaining full defense wins in multiple motions for summary judgment in complex employment discrimination and retaliation cases, including those involving national security agencies and in cases involving successful challenges to the use of statistical evidence.
“This is a pivotal time for employers facing increased scrutiny and litigation from federal agencies,” says Dedra. “I’m excited to join a firm that shares my passion for strategic advocacy and practical compliance while investing in the kind of innovative and dynamic strategies that help clients stay ahead of risk.”
Dedra earned her J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Law and her B.A. from the University of Kansas.
