Alex Havlin
Alex Havlin is of counsel in the Cincinnati, Ohio, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. Serving as a Captain and Judge Advocate in the United States Army Reserve, Alex appreciates the challenges of leadership, the importance of maintaining stability in the face of conflict and the value of service.
From locally operated businesses to multi-national corporations, Alex makes it a point to understand employers’ present operations and long-term goals to inform advice and counsel and effectuate positive outcomes. Prioritizing collaborating on a strategic course of action, Alex guides clients through all stages of workplace disputes, from negotiating pre-filing resolutions of employee claims to representing organizations in state and federal courts, and before administrative agencies. Whether a matter involves the Fair Labor Standards Act, Family Medical Leave Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, Age Discrimination Act, and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, or an act’s state law counterparts, Alex assists employers in developing legally compliant and defensible policies to minimize risk.
Alex previously spent over a decade as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney at the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office, primarily in the Appellate Division. He has participated in dozens of oral arguments before Ohio appellate courts, including two successful arguments before the Ohio Supreme Court, insights he applies when advocating on an employer’s behalf before any fact-finding tribunal.
Alex continues his service as a Captain and Judge Advocate in the United States Army Reserve, with experience in administrative law, military justice, legal assistance, and employment matters. He is presently assigned as a legal assistance attorney and previously mobilized as the Chief of Military Justice for the 412th Theater Engineer Command, a nearly 13,000 Soldier formation.
