Alyssa Heusinger is an associate in the Omaha, Nebraska, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. With a decade of experience as a human resource professional, Alyssa brings both first-hand knowledge and actionable insights to her practice, one that is dedicated to collaborating with employers to develop practical policies and compliance programs that foster a stable workplace.

Alyssa brings an intimate understanding of the legal issues that human resource teams and business leaders face daily. Through placing herself in each organization’s shoes, she provides proactive and specific advice and counsel. Her approach is especially effective during phases of transition within organizations, whether working with start-ups, high-growth organizations, or during acquisition. From handbook reviews and FLSA audits to resolving employee relations issues, she delivers clear, actionable guidance that drives results.

As a member of the firm’s Employment Litigation practice, Alyssa thoughtfully balances legal strategy with her clients’ business objectives when guiding matters toward resolution. She represents employers in claims involving discrimination, harassment, and retaliation under Title VII and the ADA, recognizing that even single-plaintiff cases can pose significant business disruption.

While attending the University of Nebraska College of Law, Alyssa served as a judicial intern for the Honorable L. Steven Grasz at the United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, as well as the Honorable John M. Gerrard at the United States District Court, District of Nebraska. She also served as Executive Editor for the Nebraska Law Review and student attorney for the Housing Justice Clinic, receiving the Schmid Honor Scholarship in recognition of her academic excellence.

Before attending law school, Alyssa advanced quickly in her human resources career from an entry-level Human Resource Coordinator to Business Partner to Director of Human Resources in industries spanning hospitality to technology. Committed to deepening her expertise, she also earned her SHRM-Senior Certified Professional designation and an MBA, applying this broad knowledge to deliver practical, business-minded solutions to every client she serves.
