Jonathan R. King, an associate in the Cleveland, Ohio office of Jackson Lewis P.C., represents clients in traditional labor law matters. His extensive experience and insight, gained during his tenure as a field attorney at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), uniquely position him to adeptly navigate the rapidly changing and intricate landscape of labor law. With experience in both the government and private sectors, Jonathan comprehends the multifaceted challenges faced by union and non-union employers across diverse industries.

Drawing on his deep knowledge of federal labor law and his knowledge of the inner workings of the NLRB, Jonathan has successfully defended clients nationwide against hundreds of unfair labor practice charges. He has skillfully handled dozens of union election petitions and union organizing campaigns, often involving thousands of employees. Jonathan regularly leads collective bargaining agreement negotiations, provides day-to-day guidance on the intricacies of administering collective bargaining agreements to protect and restore management rights, and defends employers in grievance arbitration hearings. Further, Jonathan is adept at counseling clients facing unique labor challenges that arise during due diligence in mergers and acquisitions.

Jonathan prides himself on his collaborative approach and making himself an integral part of his clients’ teams. He partners closely with them to devise innovative and legally compliant preventive labor relations strategies, while also delivering effective training on positive employee relations. His ability to identify challenges and craft unique solutions underscore his commitment to helping clients achieve their labor-related goals and objectives.

Before joining Jackson Lewis, Jonathan worked as a litigator at a midsize law firm in Ohio. In that role, he handled all labor-related matters for the firm, provided advice and counsel to employers regarding compliance with state and federal employment and labor laws, and defended employers against employment-related lawsuits in both state and federal courts.

Jonathan’s professional journey extends beyond the legal realm. As a major in the Ohio Army National Guard, he has dedicated over 19 years to serving as an intelligence officer and commander, including deployments in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom.

Beyond his legal and military pursuits, Jonathan finds fulfillment in coaching his kids’ sports teams and running, hiking, and biking the local roads and trails. He’s no stranger to athletic challenges, as he regularly competes in triathlons and road and trail running events, including marathons.
