Melissa M. Castillo is an associate in the Tampa, Florida, office of Jackson Lewis P.C. She is an experienced litigator whose practice focuses on representing employers in employment litigation matters and government enforcement investigations.

Melissa also provides clients with proactive advice and counseling support, including tailored workplace policy and handbook preparation; workplace training for human resources, management employees, and non-management employees; and workplace investigations.

Prior to joining the firm, Melissa was a trial attorney for the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), where she litigated high-impact individual and class employment discrimination cases across Florida and Puerto Rico. During her tenure at the EEOC, Melissa secured partial summary judgment in an ADA failure-to-accommodate lawsuit on behalf of the EEOC. Melissa also negotiated a $1.6 million settlement in a class race harassment lawsuit, a $1.5 million dollar settlement in a class hiring discrimination lawsuit, as well as the EEOC’s first public Pregnant Workers Fairness Act conciliation.

Earlier in her career, Melissa represented employers in complex employment litigation matters in a labor and employment law firm. Melissa also provided clients with preventative advice and counseling.
