Jackson Lewis Attorney Appointed Labor & Employment Liaison to the ABA's Commission on Racial & Ethnic Minorities

-Hartford Partner David Jimenez will work to increase the advancement of minorities in the legal profession across the nation-

September 4, 2008 New York - Jackson Lewis LLP, one of the country’s largest and fastest growing workplace law firms, announced today that Hartford, Connecticut partner David Jimenez has been appointed as one of two Labor & Employment Law Section Liaisons to the American Bar Association's (ABA's) Commission on Racial & Ethnic Minorities. As Liaison, Mr. Jimenez will provide regular reporting on the work of the Labor & Employment section in an effort to increase minority participation in the legal profession across the nation.

The liaison appointment is a one year term that began at the end of the 2008 ABA Annual Meeting. The Commission on Racial and Ethnic Diversity in the Profession works to create leadership and economic opportunities for racially and ethnically diverse lawyers within the ABA and the legal profession. The 17-member Commission aims to address issues of discrimination, racism and bigotry in the legal profession.  Commission members are appointed by the president of the ABA, and ABA President H. Thomas Wells Jr. named seven new commissioners, including the chair, to three-year terms this year.
