Trisana N. Spence Named President-Elect of George W. Crawford Black Bar Association

HARTFORD, CT (May 8, 2024) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce Trisana N. Spence has been named the president-elect of the George W. Crawford Black Bar Association (“Crawford”). Trisana currently serves as secretary of the organization and her presidential term will begin during the summer of 2025.

“On behalf of the Hartford office, I would like to congratulate Trisana on this significant accomplishment,” said Hartford Office Managing Principal James F. Shea. “Her contributions to the firm and the Hartford legal community have made Trisana a visionary in her own right, and I am looking forward to her being a prominent voice for positive change within the legal workplace and beyond.”

Trisana is an attorney in the firm’s Hartford office where she represents employers in workplace law matters. She regularly advises and defends employers in litigation involving claims of discrimination, retaliation, and harassment, brought under Title VII, ADA, ADEA, the OSH Act and other state and federal law claims brought against employers in various forums, ranging from administrative agencies to state and federal courts. Trisana also conducts internal investigations of publicly traded, privately held, and not-for-profit organizations, police departments, and educational institutions with allegations of fraud, financial impropriety, conflicts of interest, code of conduct violations, Procurement Integrity Act violations, and whistleblower claims under Dodd-Frank, SOX and other federal, state and local laws.

“I am extremely grateful for organizations like Crawford that recognize the importance of championing diversity, equity and inclusion in the legal profession,” said Trisana. “Through Crawford’s initiatives, I have had the privilege of connecting with so many influential people who have served as both resources and inspirations to me throughout my career. I am both excited and humbled to be entrusted with the opportunity to lead this organization and further its enduring legacy.”

Apart from her work with Crawford, Trisana serves as secretary for The RiseUP Group, a Connecticut non-profit focused on youth empowerment and development through art and other community-based activities. She was also selected as a 2024 fellow for the National Employment Law Council Academy, which develops the leadership potential of minority employment law attorneys through skills training and mentorship.

The George W. Crawford Black Bar Association is a volunteer state-wide organization that has represented the collective body of Black attorneys in Connecticut since 1977.
