Jackson Lewis Adds Principal John R. Vreeland in Berkeley Heights, New Jersey

BERKELEY HEIGHTS, NJ (January 26, 2022) Nationwide employment law firm Jackson Lewis P.C. is pleased to announce John R. Vreeland has joined the firm’s Berkeley Heights office as a principal. John has more than 20 years of experience in all areas of labor and employment law.

“John is a well-respected and accomplished leader with a proven track record managing complex labor matters,” said Jonathan J. Spitz and Richard F. Vitarelli, co-leaders of the firm’s Labor Relations group. “His familiarity with the transportation industry fits well with the group’s depth of experience in this sector and will greatly benefit our clients across the country.”

John represents employers and management in all areas of workplace law, with an emphasis on labor relations and wage and hour compliance. John’s wage and hour experience includes helping clients proactively address wage and hour issues before a government investigation or litigation is commenced. He regularly counsels management in many industries on payroll and recordkeeping practices, and partners with their human resources and payroll departments to perform periodic compliance audits and design policies, job descriptions and pay practices to reduce exposure for wage and hour claims.

John has more than 20 years of labor relations experience and has represented private sector clients at the collective bargaining table, in labor arbitrations, before the National Labor Relations Board and in federal court. He regularly counsels management on disciplining employees in the union environment and assists employers in remaining union-free, both before and during organizing campaigns.

John has significant industry-specific experience to meet all the workplace law needs of domestic and multinational shipping, trucking and warehousing companies. He currently represents supply chain management clients doing business in the port commerce, logistics, warehousing, shipping, and trucking industries. He provides regulatory guidance to employers in these industries and, if disputes arise, defends them before regulatory agencies such as the Department of Transportation, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration, Internal Revenue Service, National Labor Relations Board and state and federal Departments of Labor.

“With an extensive background handling traditional labor relations as well as wage and hour matters, John will be a significant asset to our established and growing team,” said Office Managing Principal Richard J. Cino. “His arrival plays a key role in strengthening our service offerings and the needs of clients. We are excited to welcome John to the firm.”

John earned his J.D. from New York Law School and his B.A. from Rutgers University.

John is the second attorney to recently join the firm’s Berkeley Heights office following the arrival of Christina Silva, who joined the office in late November. Additionally, in November, the firm welcomed Michael E. Holzapfel, an experienced ERISA litigator, to its Monmouth County office.
